For Immediate Release – Salem, MA

SALEM ARTS FESTIVAL – CALL FOR GALLERY ARTISTS

The 2023 Salem Arts Festival has announced an invitation to local visual artists to submit their work for the juried gallery at Old Town Hall during the 15th annual festival on June 2 through June 4.

The juried gallery will be selected by an on-site review process again this year, which will be held the weekend before the festival, May 26 through May 28.

Over 8,000 people regularly attend the family-friendly Festival, transforming downtown Salem, MA into an opportunity for the arts community to showcase a wide range of talents: painting, photography, sculpture, dance, music, writing, film, new media, performance, theatre, spoken word, and more!

Artists may submit up to 3 pieces; at least two of which must be for sale.

The submission fee is $10 per piece or $25 for 3 pieces.

Submitted works must be dropped off in person at Old Town Hall, 32 Derby Sq., Salem, MA at one of the times below.

Drop off dates & times are May 26 from 5-8 pm and May 27 from 9 am-noon.

Applicants will be informed of jury decisions by that Saturday afternoon, May 27. Works not accepted must be picked up by Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon. Accepted work will be presented at Old Town Hall during the Salem Arts Festival (June 2 through June 4).

Wall hung artwork may not exceed 36″ in any direction (including frame) and must be wired to hang – no sawtooth hangers. Larger artwork and 3D works, if accepted, must supply an easel or a stand. While installations/3D works are welcome, be mindful that historic spaces like Old Town Hall come with some limitations.

For full details on requirements, regulations, and how to submit, please see the admission form at www.salemartsfestival.com/gallery-intent-to-apply-2023.

Submit your ‘intent to apply’ admission form TODAY!

This special exhibit is to be judged and juried for prizes by a panel comprised of individuals from the Salem arts community and beyond. Current jurors include Regina Zaragoza Frey from the City of Salem and Kurt Steinberg of the Peabody Essex Museum, final juror TBD.
