I make highly effective, well balanced, sustainable little luxuries for bath & body. I'm a research scientist with a cosmetic chemistry hobby and dry skin, so I started New England Apothecary as an avenue to explore my hobby more deeply and share my creations with others.
I also have an aversion to single-use plastics, so I aim to package all of my products low-or-no waste. With New England Apothecary you're buying locally hand-crafted, eco-friendly science-backed custom formulas from a woman owned & operated small business.
Bonnie Balzotti | Pinecones in Bloom
I have been a proud lifelong resident of Swampscott and have always enjoyed crafting and experimenting with many mediums. Most recently, I have been working with elements of nature to create seasonal wreaths.
Each wreath contains pinecones that are hand cut and hand painted to resemble flowers in bloom and are suitable for all seasons.
I make art in concert with exploring and appreciating the natural world. My inks, dyes, and pigments come from my garden or are found on my adventures and I try to maintain a sustainable practice, purchasing as little new material as possible.
I use natural botanical and mineral inks, dyes, and pigments to make abstract ink and collage art, and upcycled clothing and house goods. I also offer nature photos as prints and postcards.
Helen Tieger | Tieger Ceramics
Handmade ceramic art- garden totems, large bowls, spoon rests, fish- something for everyone.
Helen has been working with clay for more than 10 years. Her water series pieces remind one of the ocean or a stream. She loves making fish and garden totems and lives in Swampscott with her wife and 2 dogs.
Helen just retired from a long career as a home care nurse, maybe she took care of you or a family member.
Inna Sapozhnikova | Altshulcreative
I'm a local beadwork artist, wife, and working mom of two. Many years ago my aunt shared her passion with me and a few years ago I started to craft jewelry and ornaments.
It brings me joy knowing that I’m creating designs that bring a little bit of happiness and sparkle into your home, especially around the holiday season!
Kate Dwyet | KD Creations
I have a hard time putting down my knitting needles and never leave home without them.
I knit hats, sweaters, mittens and fingerless gloves! All items are created from either wool, cotton, linen or blended acrylic fibers.
Karleen Ball | Sew Envious
I started sewing about 12 years ago when our first child was very small to pass the time when she napped. I started with making infinity scarves (and still do) but expanded to zippered makeup bags, book sleeves, coffee cozies and more.
I don't make quilts and won't make you curtains - but I love to spend hours finding unique fabrics to make fun gifts. I also make the very popular Vanilla Chai tea mix and have gotten a lot of customers addicted to it!
I've started teaching how to sew as well and will expand that this winter.
I received my BFA in jewelry and ceramics from the University of Michigan. After a career in museums, the start of a family and a return from the West Coast, I relocated to Boston's North Shore to enjoy the ever changing seascape of Swampscott.
My work is created using beach stones from Swampscott beaches, tumbled with grit and then drilled and combined with beads, pearls or crystals.
Mike Walsh | Walsh Woodworks
I'm a retired electrical engineer and longtime hobbyist woodworker. I build furniture and wooden accessories for fun and profit in a workshop in the basement of my Swampscott home.

Nate Fontes-Fried |Nate Fontes-Fried Wood Quilts Social Media: @natefontesfried
When artist Nate Fontes-Fried isn’t in his workshop intricately cutting and nailing pieces of scrap-wood to create a nautical-themed “wood quilt,” he can often be found carving or polishing one of his thousands of homemade fishing lures, or shooting weddings for his photography company, Nate Photography.
Some people know Fontes-Fried solely as a photographer, others know him as a fisherman or a lure salesman, and others know him for his wood work. Whichever piece of work Fontes-Fried is pursuing, he said he does it because he loves it.
Priscilla Low | Priscilla
I make flame work jewelry combining it with found objects and mixed media and find my inspiration walking the beaches of Swampscott and my garden.

They are parents to Amira and Maddox Atoui-Rodriguez, who inspired the name of the printmaking studio in coordination with our location on the coast of Massachusetts Bay, MiraMar: Look to the sea.
While their individual styles differ dramatically, they work with themes and overlapping techniques to bring together a bit of "he said - she said" to make beautiful and beastly images of familiar lore and local scenes.

Discovery Point artisans are students who have completed high school at Swampscott and have a need for continued special education services in the areas of vocational readiness and independent living skills.
Students learn these skills through community based learning experiences such as creating and selling one of a kind artisanal pieces. Donations go directly back to the program for student centered activities.
Terri Bernhard | TB's Dots and Pots
While I love my "day job" as a School Psychologist, pottery gives me a chance to tap into my creative side. I love to explore different techniques, to make new types of forms, to play with different designs and textures. I have always been intrigued by the pointillism technique, and do tend to incorporate dotting designs into much of my work.
My joy comes from the creating, but I must admit that it is heartwarming to see others also find some beauty in the things I make.
