First Friday Zoom Open Mic for February 2023 is upon us. Join hosts, Larry Power, Logan, Heidi Shear, & Lee Eric Freedman for inspiring spoken word, musical performances and the famous "name your talent" at the best open mic in Swampscott, MA.

Open Mic begins at 7:00 PM EDT and runs until 10:00 PM EDT (United States).

Dan Speers is a former journalist and columnist, managing editor of a daily newspaper, and author of numerous college and adult education textbooks primarily in computer applications and programming languages.  

Dan is also an award-winning novelist and poet. His poem based on people and events in Haverhill, So Very Cold Outside, was first published in Margie, The American Journal of Poetry, vol., 5, one of six American Journal finalists in 2006.    Another poem, Does Anyone Know I’m Here? placed first out of 2,500 entries in the International 2005 Tom Howard/John H. Reid Poetry Contest sponsored by Tom Howard Books.  

Selected as Haverhill's first poet laureate in November, he also is an active member of the local poetry group, The Haverhill River Bards, which sponsors poetry readings and open mics throughout the year as well as participating in various events and ceremonies commemorating the history and culture of Merrimack Valley.

This event is free and all-ages BUT suggested donations will help support ReachArts Swampscott, MA and our open-mic community.
