Vinny Comeau

Vinny Comeau is a Production Technician at New England Biolabs and a medical microbiologist at Winchester Hospital. Shortly before completing his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Salem State University, he spent 5 months living in Australia where he was introduced to aboriginal art at a local farmer’s market. Typically using acrylic on canvas, Vinny combines the aboriginal art that has influenced him with the repetitive geometric patterns from nature and from the organisms he routinely observes under the microscope. He is currently living in Marblehead, MA.

Dan Brenton

Dan Brenton was born and raised outside the city of Boston, Massachusetts.  He spent his childhood playing in the streets of his quiet suburban neighborhood and along the shores of Cape Ann near his family's beach house.  Dan graduated from Salem State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in printmaking. Years after art school, Dan shook up the sediment that settled in his life by taking a 7 month long bicycle ride across the United States and down the West coast.  Once back home, Dan began painting for the first time with a head full of inspiration from his interaction with nature and the unknown.  He seeks to bring the viewer to the threshold where observation ends and imagination begins.

Matt Curley

Bio:

Matt Curley was born in 1990 in Salem, Massachusetts. In 2013, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Salem State University with a concentration in painting. Curley has long been inspired by the coastal landscapes of the North Shore where he grew up as well as by the dynamic environment of New York City. Such influences are found in many of his abstract paintings and established his interest in the duality between nature and the built architectural setting. Matt Curley has been featured in various exhibitions and public art projects in both Boston and New York. He currently works out of his home studio in Queens.

Chris Reid

Ola! My name is Chris Reid, I am 36 years old, from Concord NH, now living in Belmont MA. I started painting when I was 25 after a foot injury left me stuck inside for a long time. I am influenced/inspired by Donkey Kong Country, old Halloween and Christmas decorations, old science-fiction book covers, masonry, North American National Parks, ocean life, and Mexican restaurant decorations. I like cutting wood with my jigsaw, the more complicated the shape, the better, and I tend to overbuild my wood sculptures because I work in construction and that's how it goes. Someday I would like to build a stone house into the side of a hill.

Danielle Wager

Danielle Wager is a Massachusetts based artist. In 2017 she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in oil painting from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Since her graduation she has been recognized for her still life paintings with multiple first place and best of show awards. She currently works in custom framing and sits on the board of the BeatHeart Foundation as the Art Coordinator.

Statement:
In August of 2019 I began a series of paintings inspired by the concept of 'separation' completely unaware of how I would later see them through the lens of a global pandemic. These paintings were created during very different but relatively close points in time - at both moments I felt the process of painting as a tremendously effective and natural mood-stabilizer.

Mike Boroda

Michael Boroda has been teaching English as a second language for the past few years in Boston and has, in those same years, started painting. Inspired by friends and professionals alike, Michael uses gouache to capture scenes he finds personally moving and compelling. Working from photographs or sometimes en plein air, Michael hopes to achieve a contemplative moment for those viewing his paintings.

Courtney LaMay

Courtney LeMay is a fine artist from Lowell Massachusetts. She is primarily a oil painter and loves portraiture. She earned her BFA from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2013 and minored in psychology.  Her work tends to focus on people and their uniqueness. She loves to capture their likeness and tell a story through the paint. 

"Viewing someone else's life from my point of view is the subject of my work. The bond between painter and subject is one of great intimacy, in which time and the outer world dissolve and only the work before me and the expression of that bond created there exist. I like being in control of color, painting mostly from life. I think that painting allows one to bring together all of the objects in a field of vision, manipulate them into whatever shade or position you please, taking an often somewhat imperfect natural vista or scene and imbuing it with your own emotional state. Most of my art focuses on portraiture, because I believe that this is the best way of conveying the truth of the subject, isolating it and contemplating it in itself. Both my use of color and my decision to do mostly portraits is something, which I have tried to imitate from Sargent and many other painters I am fascinated with".
