First Friday Open Mic for March, 2021 is upon us. Join hosts, Larry Power, Heidi Shear and Lee Eric Freedman for inspiring spoken word, musical performances and the famous "name your talent" at the best open mic in Swampscott, MA.
Join us on Zoom for our feature this month: Poet Laureate of Swampscott, Massachusetts, Shelli Jankowski-Smith.
Shelli is Swampscott’s current Poet Laureate. She earned an M.A. in Creative Writing from Boston University, and her poems and essays have appeared in such publications as Agni, CrossCurrents, Eastern Structures, Harvard Review, Sage Woman, and Salamander.
She’s also co-editor of the literary anthology “In My Life: Encounters with the Beatles” published by Fromm International. Most recently, Shelli’s haiku was featured as a Best of January winner in Tricycle magazine’s first haiku challenge. And she and Marblehead artist Joyce Bartlett are currently collaborating on an illustrated children’s book based on her poem “Peace Litany for Swampscott.” Shelli is also founder of the Tea and Poetry Meditation group.
