Focusing on the moments when sky meets sea and sea meets sand, my paintings evoke the New England coastline where I live.
My recent work features textured surfaces, built up using layers of molding paste, ground pumice stone, and acrylic paint. I also like using unconventionally sized canvases—particularly tall, narrow ones that present a vertical panorama of the clouds high above and the sand at one's feet.
Beach Blocks are a popular series of small, square paintings on birch-wood panels. They capture the vibrant skies, textured sand, and crashing waves that I see at the beach. Each Beach Block can be hung on the wall or placed on a shelf or desk.
